David de Gea arrived in Madrid last night as Real Madrid and Manchester United continued to wrangle over his transfer.

The goalkeeper, who has £33m price tag on him, is keen to move to the Spanish giants but insisted that he was in the city for pleasure and not business.

When approached by the local press at the airport, De Gea, said: "I just came to relax.

"I'm on vacation. Everything is going well."

United and Real remain at loggerheads over the deal, complicated by the Premier League side's pursuit of Sergio Ramos.

The Red Devils are prepared to hold De Gea to the final year of his contract and would be willing to lose him for nothing next summer as opposed to accepting a reduced price for the highly-rated 24 year-old.
