Bayern Munich have insisted Thomas Muller will not be sold this summer after the World Cup winner was linked with a transfer to Manchester United.

Louis van Gaal's side were claimed to have tabled a £70.5million bid for the Germany international recently, but Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge subsequently denied any such offer for the forward had been received.

Van Gaal, who coached Muller during his time at Bayern, confirmed earlier this week he was in the process of recruiting a 'surprise' striker.

But The Dutchman later backtracked and Rummenigge has now reiterated his desire to keep Muller at Bayern for the foreseeable future.

"There are some players who just don't have any price tag," he said.

"We would be out of our minds to sell Muller."

The German champions have since agreed a deal to sign Juventus and Chile star Arturo Vidal pending a medical.
