Henrikh Mkhitaryan is starting to show the form that persuaded Manchester United to pay Borussia Dortmund £26.3m to sign him last summer.

The Armenian is a fabulous player — quick, intelligent and creative — and at his best, he takes some stopping.

Victor Wanyama is likely to be the Tottenham midfielder asked to do so by Mauricio Pochettino on Sunday at Old Trafford.

He has been one of Spurs’ most consistent players since his move from Southampton and he will be required to deny Mkhitaryan the space he craves to work his magic.

Whoever wins this duel will go a long way towards securing the points for his team.

Probable teams

Manchester Utd (4-3-3): De Gea; Valencia, Bailly, Rojo, Darmian; Herrera, Carrick, Pogba; Mkhitaryan, Ibrahimovic, Martial

Tottenham (4-2-3-1): Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Wanyama, Dembele; Eriksen, Alli, Son; Kane
