Argentina coach Gerardo Martino says Angel di Maria is 'willing to change' to carve out a future at Old Trafford after a difficult first season.

The Argentina international impressed during the early weeks of his United career, scoring three goals in his first five games. But the midfielder's form quickly slumped under the stewardship Louis van Gaal and he completed just seven Premier League matches during his first season in England.

His national coach, however, believes there is no doubt Di Maria will find his feet at Manchester United.

"Speaking about Angel, these kind of decisions are personal," Martino told the press.

"It's hard to give an opinion and help him. It has to be decided by him and his family.

"I can tell that, taking into account the kind of player we're talking about, there's no doubt that he has pride and will to improve.

Di Maria's performances have led to speculation he will leave Old Trafford after signing for a British record fee on transfer deadline day last summer. But Martino says Di Maria is willing to work to earn a future in the Premier League.

The Argentina boss said: "His form went from high to low, that's clear. He knows that and is willing to change this image. Whatever makes him happy, we will be by his side."
