Marouane Fellaini has left Manchester United to join Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng.

The Belgium international made 177 appearances in all competitions for United after joining from Everton in the summer of 2013.

Fellaini, who last summer signed a new and improved deal until 2020, was often a key figure at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese coach frequently turned to the 31-year-old as his ‘Plan B’ option when his side were chasing games.

But since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival in the Old Trafford dugout he has featured only once, as a late substitute, in United's seven Premier League games.

Fellaini scored 22 times for United and helped the club to win the Emirates FA Cup, FA Community Shield, League Cup and UEFA Europa League.

A short statement from United read: “Everybody at United thanks Marouane for his service and wishes him well for the future as he completes his move to Shandong Luneng Taishan FC in China.”
