Luke Shaw has revealed how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's "positive" approach has helped swiftly shift the mentality at Manchester United.

Solskjaer was appointed interim boss earlier this month after predecessor Jose Mourinho was sacked with the club languishing 10 points beneath the top four.

Mourinho, who was appointed boss in 2016, won Europa League and League Cup medals in his first campaign, but left left Carrington for a final time on December 18 with little else to show for nearly £400m spent on transfers.

United sit 19 points off pace-setters Liverpool at the midway point in the Premier League season, but successive victories under Solskjaer have helped lift the mood at Old Trafford.

The manner of convincing victories over Cardiff and Huddersfield have also helped win back the fans as Solskjaer bids to stamp an attacking mark on the team during his temporary stint in charge.

"I think you can see from the outside how much he has changed things in such a short space of time," defender Luke Shaw told Sky Sports.

"He is just a really positive manager, he knows what the club needs and also what the fans want in the way we are playing.

"He's bringing that attacking, quick play back to Old Trafford. I'm sure the fans are going to appreciate that as much as we [the players] do."
