Manchester United duo Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial will undergo scans on Sunday after the pair picked up injuries during Saturday’s defeat to Crystal Palace.

Patrick van Aanholt’s late strike saw United fall to their first defeat of the season in a lively contest that also saw Marcus Rashford miss from the penalty spot.

Shaw picked up what appeared to be a hamstring problem in the first-half. Despite trying to continue, he was forced off moments after Jordan Ayew’s opener with Ashley Young coming onto replace the left-back.

Martial meanwhile limped his way through the final minutes of the match and was unable to take part in United’s desperate search for an equaliser in the final minutes of the contest.

United travel to Southampton next weekend and Solskjaer hopes both players will have shaken off their respective knocks by then.

“We’ll do the scans tomorrow but he [Shaw] felt something in his hamstring,” said Solskjaer in his press conference.

“Hopefully, it won’t be too bad and I hope he is going to be back for Southampton.”

“We'll have to wait and see. Hopefully they won't be too bad and maybe we can have them training during the week.”
