Mason Greenwood and Tahith Chong have been named in the starting XI for Manchester United's Under-21s on Tuesday night - possibly ruling them out of Wednesday's EFL Cup clash with Chelsea.

Greenwood, who signed a new long-term deal at Old Trafford earlier this month, has started three games for United this season - scoring in two of them.

The 18-year-old netted in the EFL Cup third round clash against Rochdale but will likely settle for a bench role at best when United take on Frank Lampard's side at Stamford Bridge.

Greenwood leads the line for the Under-18 side taking on Doncaster in the EFL Trophy - with Chong wearing the captain's armband in midfield.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could still name a young side in west London on Wednesday, hinting both James Garner and Brandon Williams will feature after impressing away to Partizan Belgrade last week.

“We’ve not made a decision on who is going to play [at Chelsea] but you’ll probably see the two of them [Garner and Williams].”

Angel Gomes will also hope to feature against the Blues.
