Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Man Utd make transfer plans with caretaker boss ready to 'put his life' into United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to give his ‘life’ to Manchester United as he prepares to be appointed permanent manager.

The Norwegian has confirmed his contract with Molde has been ripped up, leaving him free to take on his dream job.

United are still to officially announce Solskjaer as Jose Mourinho’s successor. but it is accepted within the club that the 1999 Treble-winning hero is now the only contender for the job.

Wednesday’s dramatic Champions League win against Paris Saint-Germain has all-but ended any remaining doubts that he is the man to lead them forward, with suggestions an announcement could come during the international break later this month.

The 46-year-old is currently drawing up transfer plans with executive vice chairman Ed Woodward to sign the players to build on his outstanding caretaker reign and challenge for the Premier League title next season.

“Pre-season we’ve looked into, but also you look at players and hopefully the ones the club will sign will stay for many, many years,” said Solskjaer ahead of Sunday’s trip to Arsenal.

“I’m not here to get excited. I’m here to do my job. That contract issue, you cannot have two contracts as a manager so that contract (with Molde) was terminated and I’m contracted to Man United until the end of June.

“Of course I love managing these boys and I love working here, but as I’ve said so many times I’m just doing the best I can every single day and if it comes to a decision to be made we’ve got to think about that.

“Everyone likes to get complimented and you meet people who are happy, but that doesn’t change my approach whatsoever.

“I’m quite good on focusing on what I shall be focusing on and that’s not thinking about that part of it.”

Solskjaer has turned United around by restoring the traditions of Sir Alex Ferguson after the failed reigns of David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.

And he is ready to match Ferguson’s commitment to return them to the summit of European football.

“Sir Alex came in without having any ties to the club and he put his life into it,” he said.

“Of course, you have to put your life into it, but it helps that I know the club.”
