Mario Balotelli scored an outrageous rabona as he hit five goals for Adana Demirspor in their 7-0 thrashing of Goztepe in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.

As his former side Manchester City were securing the title in dramatic fashion on the final day of the Premier League season, Balotelli was making his own headlines.

The Italian scored a first-half hat-trick as Demirspor thumped already-relegated Goztepe and his fifth goal was something special.

Picking the ball up on the left, Balotelli ran at his defender, did seven or eight stepovers inside the area before shifting the ball to his left and then beating the goalkeeper with a rabona.

It was a reminder of a rare talent – albeit one whose potential had never been fully realised.

Balotelli joined Demirspor last summer and has finished the season in Turkey with 18 goals in 30 League appearances as his side finished in mid-table.

Still only 31 years old, Balotelli moved to Turkey hoping to play for Italy at the World Cup in Qatar later this year and he still thinks he has something to offer at the highest level.

Might a club in one of the big European leagues be willing to take a gamble on this summer?
