Malky Mackay praised Martin Taylor after yet another clean sheet in Watford's 2-0 win over Bristol City.

Taylor's arrival on loan from Birmingham has shored up the Hornet's backline alongside captain Jay DeMerit.

Manager Mackay said: "I'm delighted. We have lost one goal in three games so it looks like we're sealing it up at the back and also getting on the scoresheet as well.

"Martin probably allows Jay to not have to be the lead central defender.

"You saw again when they put pressure on, that Martin gets his head on an awful lot, he gets into the right areas and he's also comfortable on the ball."

Taylor volleyed home the second after Heidar Helguson headed in the opener as Mackay's men moved to within five points of the play-off places.
