Matthijs de Ligt speaks out on Man United and Barcelona transfer links

Matthijs de Ligt insists that his future remains undecided despite heavy transfer speculation linking him with Manchester United and Barcelona.

Standard Sport understands that United are convinced that Barcelona have won the race to sign the Ajax captain, with the Red Devils believed to have been informed as long as two months ago that De Ligt was out of their reach.

United are now considering a renewed bid for Leicester City and England centre-back Harry Maguire, with Kalidou Koulibaly still a target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It has long been expected that De Ligt - who skippered Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals - would be following team-mate Frenkie de Jong to Camp Nou this summer.

However, De Ligt told reporters on Sunday that he putting any talk of a transfer deal to one side to focus on the Netherlands' upcoming Nations League semi-final against England on June 6.

Speaking to Sky Sports, De Ligt said: "Where do I see myself? Well, obviously the Premier League is a big competition, Spain [LaLiga], but you have other competitions, it's not just about those two.

"I still don't know anything about where my future is, so I see how it goes. First we have to play two games and then after that I will see what happens next."
