Mauricio Pochettino left an emotional goodbye message for his Tottenham players scrawled on a tactics board before leaving the club this week.

After five years at the helm, Pochettino was shown the door on Tuesday night with Jose Mourinho confirmed as his appointment less than 12 hours later.

Joining the Argentine in leaving Spurs was his trusted backroom team with his assistant Jesus Perez posting pictures on social media of the manager writing a heartfelt goodbye to his squad.

Pochettino’s message reads: “Big thanks to you all. We can’t say goodbye… you will always be in our hearts.

Harry Kane has led the tributes to the sacked Tottenham manager this week, writing on Twitter: “Gaffer. I will be forever thankful to you for helping me achieve my dreams. We’ve had some amazing moments in the last 5 and a half years that I will never forget."

Fellow England international Dele Alli was another player who thanked his former manager, under whose guidance he has developed immensely.

“I can’t thank this man enough. He’s taught me so much and I’m so grateful for everything he’s done for me. Good luck and hope to see you again my friend.”
