Memphis Depay has confirmed he will be staying at Barcelona, putting to bed rumours of a possible deadline day switch.

The La Liga side had been willing to let the Dutchman leave for a small fee, or potentially even on a free, as they look to ease their own financial situation to help register their new signings.

Depay’s representatives were pushing for their man to move to Chelsea before the end of the window, though the Blues themselves have no room in their squad unless they offloaded more senior players.

However, that is not a problem Todd Boehly and Thomas Tuchel need to worry about, as Depay took to Twitter to give a definitive update on his future.

The forward tweeted: “I have decided to stay at Barça!

“Fully committed to contribute to the club’s sporting success.”

One man who looks set to make the move from Barcelona to Chelsea is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who flew into London earlier today to seal a return to the Premier League.

Just over six months after Arsenal terminated his contract, Aubameyang will join Chelsea for a fee in the region of £10million, with Marcos Alonso moving to Barcelona.
