Mesut Ozil has eased Arsenal fans' fears after confirming that his early withdrawal in Germany's 2018 World Cup qualifying win against Northern Ireland was not due to injury.

Ozil had starred for the world champions during their 3-0 win over Czech Republic on Saturday, but was replaced at half-time by Manchester City's Ilkay Gundogan during Tuesday's clash with Joachim Low's side 2-0 up.

The playmaker's departure led to a number of Gunners fans raising fears that their star man may have been injured, but Ozil took to Twitter after the game to reassure them that there was nothing to be alarmed about.

Ozil tweeted: "Thanks for taking care because of my substitution but everything is all right guys".

Die Nationalmannschaft then poked fun at Arsenal fans with a cheeky Twitter message regarding the Gunners' relief over Ozil's fitness.

Two quick-fire goals from Julian Draxler and Sami Khedira put Germany in control of Group C on Tuesday, maintaining their perfect start after three games with no goals conceded to move two points clear of Azerbaijan.

"We completed the job," said Low, who equaled Sepp Herberger's record of 94 wins as Germany coach. "It wasn't quite so easy because they defended deep and made space scarce."
