Milan boss fears Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe

Danger man: Lennon is held in high regard
11 April 2012

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has identified Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe as the greatest dangers to his team tonight.

The Serie A leaders approach the first leg at the San Siro as favourites against a Spurs side without their most potent attacking player, Gareth Bale, and depleted by injury and suspensions.

But Allegri, in his first year as coach of Milan, is aware that Harry Redknapp's team still carry a substantial threat.

"Who do I fear the most from the Tottenham team? Lennon and Defoe are very dangerous, as is Peter Crouch, but we also have top-class players," said Allegri. "We will beat Tottenham only if we play very well.

"We have a team good enough to reach the quarter-finals but we will have to show great intensity and technique. Our main aim is not to concede a goal, because we know they have a lot of attacking talent."

Defoe will be a danger if he comes off the bench, with Rafael van der Vaart set to start. Milan can also cause plenty of headaches for the Spurs defence with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alex Pato and former Manchester City forward Robinho all available.

Ibrahimovic has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season and Redknapp understands the damage the Swede can do to his team.

"Ibrahimovic is a fantastic player, one of the best around," said the Spurs manager. "I saw him recently and he was different class.

"He has everything. He looks like he'll always score goals."
