Moussa Sissoko is adamant Tottenham will be ready for another battle against Chelsea this weekend - despite their Champions League disappointment.

Mauricio Pochettino's side were eliminated from Europe's competition on Tuesday night after producing a poor performance in a 2-1 defeat to Monaco.

The north Londoners have little time to dwell on their European exit and must attempt to continue their unbeaten Premier League record when they travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

Last season's corresponding fixture was a feisty affair and nine Spurs players were booked during a 2-2 draw which ended the club's hopes of a first title since 1961.

Another fiercely contested encounter is expected this weekend and Sissoko is confident Spurs will be able to lift themselves for a clash against Antonio Conte's pacesetters.

"I saw the tackles flying in on TV last season and it is going to be another massive game on Saturday," he told the Daily Star.

"But I am sure we will be ready for it. All the players will be up for it.

"I think the Chelsea game comes at the right moment for us because going out of the Champions League is such a big disappointment we feel we must do something to put it right.

"We need to show more character and play better than we did in Monaco," Sissoko added.

Chelsea are likely to go into the game as slight favourites, having won six consecutive Premier League games since switching to a 3-4-3 formation in October.

Spurs, meanwhile, have slipped out of the top four in recent weeks and will fall seven points off the title pace if they lose to the Blues.
