Training: Chadli returns to the club and is put through his paces
James Benge14 July 2015

Tottenham are back in pre-season training and, as a tweet from Nacer Chadli proves, they are being thoroughly put through their paces.

The Belgian winger, who more regularly impressed in his second season at White Hart Lane, tweeted a photo of himself hooked up to an oxygen mask.

He is likely to have been undertaking a VO2 max test, designed to test a player’s aerobic capacity.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino is known to demand the highest fitness standards from his players, with Spurs fitness levels leading to the side finding a series of late winners throughout the campaign.

And with another season of Europa League football ahead their physical limits are likely to be tested further as they compete on multiple fronts.

Pochettino will have his chance to assess his squad’s fitness in a series of challenging friendlies in the coming weeks. After they take on an MLS All Stars team that includes Steven Gerrard, David Villa and Kaka Tottenham will travel to Munich to face Real Madrid. Their preseason will end with a match against either Bayern Munich or AC Milan.
