Neil Danns eyes new Palace contract

Crystal Palace midfielder Neil Danns has given the club an early Christmas present by insisting he will not be leaving them when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

He said: "I have no intention of leaving. Speculation always happens when a player nears the end of a contract but it doesn't mean I'm going anywhere — we're talking."

Brentford get an extra bit of rest
Brentford's League One fixture with Exeter, originally scheduled for 15 January, has been brought forward 24 hours to give the clubs a breather.

They meet again on 17 January in the first leg of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern final. Wise move.

Lions justify sale of Turkish delight
Millwall chief executive Andy Ambler has explained the thinking behind selling 15-year-old Turkey international goalkeeper Yusuf Mersin to Liverpool for a fee of around £350,000.

Ambler said: "We turned down lots of offers from Premier League clubs. The money will be reinvested in the youth set-up and we will always try to get the best deal for the club in these circumstances."
