Millwall manager Neil Harris hopes Wednesday’s dramatic late fightback against Nottingham Forest is a turning point for the Lions.

The struggling club came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 and earn a point thanks to an injury time equaliser from Lee Gregory.

The comeback ended a run of three straight defeats for Millwall in the Championship and came after a lengthy delay in the second half when one of the floodlights went out at the City Ground.

Harris said: “Hopefully that equaliser at the end will be a turning point.

“It certainly gives us momentum and belief going into a big game at the weekend against Aston Villa.

“There have been some players who have not quite hit their standards from last year, and while one good display does not make a season, it does put them in the right direction, and shows that they are good players.

“As a group at the moment, we are still getting a few things slightly wrong, but we are getting better and that belief and desire in the group is certainly there.”

Millwall are still in the relegation zone in the Championship — they are third from bottom and just one point above fellow strugglers Ipswich and Preston.

However, an optimistic Harris said: “We have always built good steps to get us back on the straight and narrow and we are making those small steps now.”
