Joey Barton will not earn an England recall under Fabio Capello - and that's music to the ears of Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock.
The midfielder has been in impressive form since his move from Newcastle but Warnock believes the controversial 29-year-old has no chance of adding to the one cap he earned against Spain in 2007.
Capello will be at Loftus Road to watch the clash with Aston Villa on Sunday but Warnock said: "Joey Barton hasn't got a cat in hell's chance of playing for England this season. Not until Capello leaves."
Warnock believes Capello will not look beyond Barton's catalogue of problems, on and off the field, which include him going to prison in 2008.
"I can't see him playing for England this year but in the future, any player playing well enough, any England manager would be foolish not to pick him," said Warnock.
"The current manager has made it clear he won't be picking Joey which delights me because the fewer the games the better.
"It's not for me to tell Fabio Capello his job - otherwise I'd have probably have got England to the World Cup final! I'm pleased Shaun Wright-Phillips is getting mentioned because he is doing so well and I want him to keep having a smile on his face."
Warnock added: "On Joey, I tried to sign him a couple of times which went down well with him. He remembered me trying to get him out of the cart at Manchester City and it didn't quite happen then."
