Nemanja Vidic is ruled out of clash with AC Milan

Missing man: Nemanja Vidic in action against Manchester City
11 April 2012

Nemanja Vidic will miss tomorrow night's Champions League clash between Manchester United and AC Milan at the San Siro.

Sir Alex Ferguson's team flew out Italy this morning without the Serbian defender (right) and out-of-favour midfielder Anderson.

Vidic has yet to play in 2010 after developing a nerve problem in his leg.

Ryan Giggs is also missing after breaking an arm in last week's draw at Aston Villa, but the remainder of United's first-team squad, made the two-hour trip for a meeting their former midfielder David Beckham.

Despite missing the tie Giggs knows enough about Beckham — who is on loan from LA Galaxy — to know what a threat he will pose to his former team-mates.

Giggs said: "I still speak to him. He has not changed as a person.

"He has always loved football. He has always been dedicated and that is still the same now. Like myself, Becks looks after himself. He is naturally fit and is a natural athlete, so I am not surprised he is still going at all."

Beckham, 34, left United in 2003 and Giggs insists his team will not be distracted by any talk of nostalgia.

"I hope he doesn't do anything nasty to us," added Giggs. "We must try not to give free-kicks away from 25 or 30 yards out because he is capable of putting them into the top corner."
