Newcastle chief reveals relegation fear

Newcastle United managing director Derek Llambias has spelt out the consequences of relegation.

The club are only six points above the drop zone and bought in six players in the January transfer window in a bid to haul them clear. Llambias said: “If we are relegated we’ll have put ourselves back three or four years.

Do the fans want to go to Barnsley again? No, so we have to concentrate on the Premier League.”
