Neymar going nowhere

11 April 2012

Santos president Luis Alvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro has warned Chelsea they have no chance of signing Brazil star Neymar unless they meet the £28.75 million release clause in his contract.

Chelsea are believed to have stepped up their bid to sign the 18-year-old having had an offer of £19m rejected earlier in the summer.

The club's chief scout Michael Emenalo watched Neymer make his Brazil debut against USA in New Jersey on Tuesday night, where he found the net in a 2-0 victory.

Neymar, who scored 32 goals in 33 games for Santos last season, is regarded as one of the best young talents in the world, but Chelsea are unwilling to meet the asking price.

But Ribeiro is adamant he won't be sold on the cheap and confirmed: "The clause is there. If they pay it, they can take him."

There have been reports that Santos are even considering reporting Chelsea to Fifa for tapping up Neymar, which would cause some embarrassment following the furore surrounding Gael Kakuta last season.
