Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante returns to individual training at Cobham amid coronavirus concerns

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante has returned to individual training at the club’s Cobham base, having previously stayed away because of coronavirus fears.

The Frenchman attended the Blues’ first session following the shutdown on May 19, when only small group non-contact training was permitted, but subsequently asked to train at home instead and was granted compassionate leave.

The 29-year-old is understood to be worried about the impact contracting the virus could have on his family, having lost a brother to a heart attack in 2018.

There is still no pressure from the club on Kante to return to training with the rest of the squad and he may still decide against playing again this season.

Clubs voted unanimously to resume limited-contact training earlier this week and on Thursday it was announced that the Premier League will restart on June 17.

Concerns over the increased risk posed to BAME players have been raised publicly by the likes of Watford captain Troy Deeney, who has thus far decided against attending training sessions.

However, the 31-year-old could return next week after holding positive talks with England's deputy chief medical officer Jonathan Van-Tam.
