No decision has been made on Arsene Wenger's future at Arsenal despite reports in Italy claiming Massimiliano Allegri has agreed to take over in the summer.

Wenger remains undecided over extending his 20-year stay in north London, though is understood to have rejected an offer from an unnamed Chinese club to make him the highest-paid manager in the world.

Reports in Italy on Tuesday claimed Allegri has told friends he will be appointed as Wenger's successor, once he has wrapped up an expected third consecutive Serie A title with Juventus.

Standard Sport understands the 49-year-old, who succeeded Antonio Conte at the Juventus Stadium, is of interest to Arsenal should a replacement be required but the club have offered improved terms to Wenger.

Wenger has already confirmed he will continue in football management into next season, be it at the Emirates Stadium helm or elsewhere, with majority shareholder Stan Kroenke hopeful of an extension.

A new two-year contract, which includes a pay rise, is on the table for Wenger, but a decision is not expected to be made until closer to the summer after the club's performance and fan sentiment is assessed.

A 5-1 humbling in the first leg of the Gunners Champions League last-16 tie with Bayern Munich has all but secured Arsenal's exit at the same stage for the seventh consecutive season to further intensify fan unrest.

Another fan protest against Wenger signing a new contract is planned for to take placed ahead of next week's second leg against Bayern at the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger will seek a move to a Champions League giant should he call time on his spell with the Gunners, though would prefer to win the competition while in charge at Arsenal, and remains a close friend of Paris Saint-Germain owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
