Chelsea will resist any interest in Diego Costa amid rumours the striker is unhappy in London and would prefer a move back to Spain.

The 26-year-old scored 20 goals in 26 Premier League games as the Blues won the title in his first season following last summer’s £32million move from Atletico Madrid.

Spanish newspaper Marca reported this morning that Costa is happy with manager Jose Mourinho and Chelsea in general but has failed to settle in London.

It is claimed he misses the food and weather in Madrid and is prepared to take a pay-cut from his current salary - thought to be around £180,000-a-week - in order to return to his former club.

However, it is understood the Blues have no desire to sell Costa after such a productive first season in England and Mourinho sees him as an integral part of his future plans.

Costa has struggled to learn English and been frequently targeted by opposition defenders due to his combative style but there is no indication at this stage that he will submit a formal transfer request to leave Stamford Bridge.
