Odion Ighalo has urged Watford to move for Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel.

Mikel is out of contract at the end of the season and the midfielder has been told he will not be offered an extension. Ighalo wants Watford, who host Everton in the early kick-off tomorrow, to target his Nigeria skipper.

“I would like it if Mikel joined me at Watford,” he said.

“He is my captain at the national team. Apart from that he is a very good player, very talented.

“There is no team in the Premier League that will not want to have such a player.

“I am happy I have played with him so I will be very happy to have him in my team.”

Standard Sport understands that Shanghai SIPG have already made an inquiry to Mikel’s representatives, while Manchester United and Marseille are among a number of clubs interested.
