Fulham have signed Northern Ireland international Oliver Norwood on a season-long loan from newly promoted Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.

The central midfielder made 32 appearances last season, helping the south coast club win automatic promotion to the English top-flight.

The former Manchester United player spent just one season at The Amex Stadium after his move from Reading, and will be hoping to use his experience of gaining promotion to fire Fulham to the Premier League next season.

Slavisa Jokjanovic's side were beaten in the play-off semi-finals in May, but have managed to sign key players Ryan Sessegnon and Tom Cairney onto new long-term contracts, signalling a growing ambition to get back into the Premier League.

26-year old Norwood may well have been signed as a replacement for Scott Parker, who this summer retired from playing after four years at Craven Cottage.

He has been capped 43 times for his country and played in all four of their Euro 2016 matches in France last summer.

“I'm just delighted to be here,” Norwood told the club site

“Having played Fulham the last two seasons, the football they have played, it suits my style, it suits the way I like to play football.

“Once I knew of the interest I was desperate to get it done and I am very happy to be here.”
