Oscar swarmed by fans in Shanghai following £60m transfer from Chelsea

Oscar was met by cheers of ‘Oscar, Oscar!’ as he touched down at Shanghai's international airport on Monday, following his £60million move from Chelsea.

The Brazil international became one the latest high-profile signing by a Chinese Super League club, where he will be reunited with former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Oscar was handed bouquets of flowers before being guided through a crowd of Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) by a club official.

The 25-year-old then proceeded to sign autographs.

"I think it [signing Oscar] will definitely enhance the team's capabilities," Shao Lei, a 30-year-old Shanghai supporter told Reuters Television. "Our goal is to strive for the championship, nothing else."

The deal taking Oscar to China was quickly followed by the £70m arrival of Carlos Tevez at rivals Shanghai Shenhua.

The former West Ham, Manchester United and Manchester City striker is believed to have signed a deal worth a staggering £615,000-per-week making him the world’s highest-paid footballer.
