Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew is targeting European qualification this season.

Pardew led Palace to 10th-place in the Premier League last season — their best ever campaign since the league’s formation in 1992.

Now, the former Newcastle boss, wants to take the next step and take Palace into Europe for the first time in their history.

“In my first year at West Ham and my first year at Newcastle I got them into Europe and that is where I want to drive us,” he said at today’s Premier League launch in Southfields.

“I still think 10th would be a great achievement for us. We have got a very difficult start and if we overcome that then we could achieve that and maybe even better that.”

Pardew also praised Yohan Cabaye for raising standards at Palace since joining for a club record fee. “Cabaye could get into any top four team in the Premier League,” he said.
