Paul Pogba claims Manchester United will have to release the shackles to mount a genuine title challenge.

United’s recent resurgence came to a halt as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Wolves - prompting Jose Mourinho to criticise the attitude of his players.

Pogba echoed his manager’s thoughts, but added it will take a more attacking approach to get best out of a star-studded squad.

“We are at home and we should play much better against Wolves,” said the midfielder. “When we are at home we should attack, attack, attack. That’s Old Trafford. We are here to attack.

“I think teams are scared when they see Man United attacking and attacking. That was our mistake.”

He added: “Maybe the attitude should be better and we should play better because, again, we are at Old Trafford and we should just attack and press like we did against Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal last season. When we play like this it’s easier for us.”

David de Gea kept Wolves at bay with a series of saves, while United struggled to create clear-cut chances other than Fred’s first half strike.

Pogba was at a loss to explain the failure to pose more of a threat to Nuno Santos’ newly-promoted side.

“I can’t tell you because I’m a player - it’s not me,” he said. “I’m not the manager, I cannot say that, but obviously we should show more option of playing, but I cannot say that because I’m a player.

“That’s my way of thinking - we should move better, we should move more.”

Joao Moutinho’s second half equaliser was the least Wolves deserved on the day after creating the majority of the chances.

Mourinho didn’t hold back in his criticism of his side, claiming his players failed to show the same desire as the visitors.

Pogba agreed.

“Yeah, it’s true that maybe we should have showed more hunger in some parts,” he said. “Maybe as well we felt a bit of fatigue because we played Champions League. Maybe he’s right, I don’t know.

“We didn’t lose, but for me we should have won. We are at home, they are three points that we should get.

“I don’t know how many games we’ve had at home - three - and we’ve got only four points. It’s not enough.

“We’ve played six games in the Premier League, it’s not that we should get worried, but we should obviously get closer - get closer and closer (to the leaders). It’s better for us if we get close.”
