Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola claims the Premier League is the “best title” he has won in his career.

Speaking after his side moved thirteen points clear of Chelsea by beating them 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon, Guardiola refused to get carried away by City’s huge lead.

Kevin De Bruyne scored a wonderful goal to extend their winning run to 12 consecutive games, a feature of each of the the three Leagues Guardiola has lifted in England, in a game City largely dominated.

Few will need reminding of Guardiola’s stocked trophy cabinet of course and while his failure to win the Champions League with City is frequently used as a stick to beat him with, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager spoke of how big an achievement winning the Premier League was.

While distancing City from another League title title for now, Guardiola revealed he valued those he had won as the best in his glittering career.

“What I care about is that after everything we have won after six years, these guys still give everything for this club,” he said to City’s official website.

“That is difficult to find. We are humble to run without the ball every game.

“This is our biggest achievement. To win and win, in this country, in this league, this is my best title I have and the best I will have when I leave.”
