Pep Guardiola is expected to quit Bayern Munich at the end of next season - just when Arsene Wenger might be ready to relinquish his role as manager of Arsenal.

The former Barcelona boss is expected to head to England having previously been linked with moves to Chelsea, Manchester City and more recently admitting he could one day see himself managing Manchester United.

Yet the timing of Guardiola’s departure from the German giants could potentially coincide with Wenger deliberating over his future at the Emirates. Guardiola signed a three-year contract at Bayern but close friends maintain he has no wish to extend his stay once his tenure comes to an end in 2016.

Although there have been rumours both Manchester clubs could look to make a move for Guardiola as early as the summer if either Manuel Pellegrini or Louis van Gaal fail to impress this season it’s unlikely he will consider breaking his contract.

That will inevitably lead to speculation about where Guardiola will go to once he leaves and with Arsenal potentially looking to appoint a new manager the timing could favour his appointment.
