Peter Whittingham claimed the ‘Mitre Goal of the Year’ award at the Football League Awards last night for his stunning effort against Barnsley.

The Cardiff midfielder fired home a left-footed 25-yarder past goalkeeper Luke Steele to put his side ahead in the Championship match which finished 2-2 at the Cardiff City Stadium on March 13 last year.
