Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech believes that the Gunners can still win the Premier League title this season, despite their slow start to the campaign.

Arsene Wenger's side are five points behind pacesetters Manchester City and have won just one of their opening three league fixtures following Monday night's 0-0 draw with Liverpool.

The 33-year-old put his dismal debut behind him as he produced a superb individual performance to deny Brendan Rodgers' side and is confident that the north Londoners can still challenge for silverware.

"We didn't have the start we would like - but I still believe we have a bunch of players who are hungry to win trophies.

"After the first three games we have four points but I think there are many positives which we can look forward to in the next games."

Arsenal travel to St. James' Park to face Newcastle on Saturday in their final fixture before the international break begins and Cech is adamant that time is still on Arsenal's side as they attempt to recover from their slow start.

"There are 35 more games to be played and there are plenty of points for us to win," he added.

Arsenal's record of two wins in their opening eight games proved to be a key factor in their failure to keep pace with eventual champions Chelsea last season.
