Petr Cech is confident Arsenal will win silverware next season because of the "extraordinary" unity within the Gunners' dressing room.

Cech completed an £11million move to Arsenal from London rivals Chelsea last month following a highly successful 11-year spell with the Blues, which saw the goalkeeper secure 13 major trophies - including the Premier League title and the Capital One Cup last season.

In contrast, Arsene Wenger's side have not won the league since 2004 although they did retain their FA Cup title in May.

Despite the disparity in silverware between his current and former sides in recent years, Cech believes Arsenal will enjoy a successful 2015-16 campaign because the team's collective spirit is strong.

"I have to say that I've found the team spirit at Arsenal quite extraordinary," the 33-year-old said.

"Everybody's pulling in the same direction, which is why I believe we will have a successful season.

"I've only been here for a short while but it was clear right from my first day at the club that the team is together.

"We've players who have won the World Cup and young players who want to prove their point and play as much as possible.

"There are a lot of things in common with the Chelsea dressing room and we are working hard to prepare for a successful season.

"But there are a lot of opponents in the pack in the Premier League and Champions League who have the same ambitions.

"Chelsea will want to win the league again, Manchester United are buying players to make them really strong, Manchester City already have the players to compete and I'm sure Liverpool, Tottenham and others want to join us at the top.

"So it'll be tough but the real strength of Arsenal lies in our numbers. This squad has genuine competition for every single place in the team and we will need all of them during the season."

Cech will face his former team as early as next week when Arsenal and Chelsea meet in the Community Shield on August 2.

After helping the Gunners clinch the Barclays Asia trophy final with a 3-1 victory over Everton in Singapore at the weekend, the shot-stopper now wants to continue winning by beating Chelsea next Sunday.

"I play to win and I will be facing Chelsea soon in the Community Shield and in the Premier League," he said.

"In the previous games when Chelsea were on top, they managed the little details better. Hopefully next time it's Arsenal who do that."
