Alexis Sanchez played the entirety of Chile’s World Cup qualifier against Bolivia but the Arsenal star was unable to stop his side from losing in La Paz.

Juan Arce’s second half penalty was enough to secure the points for the host, with the result leaving Chile’s qualification hopes for next summer’s finals in doubt.

Chile sit fourth in group, level on 23 points with Argentina. The first four sides receive automatic qualification, with the fifth-highest finishers entering a play-off.

For Sanchez, however, it marked his second consecutive full outing for his country, having played just 62 minutes of Arsenal’s season thus far having sustained an abdominal injury at the start of August.

The forward was also a doubt going into Tuesday night’s match after appearing to injure his ankle in training.

But having lasted the entirety of the match, Sanchez is in line to play against Bournemouth this weekend.

Earlier this week, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insisted that Sanchez would be ‘100 per cent committed’ to the cause despite missing out on a transfer deadline day move to Manchester City.
