David Moyes to meet with West Ham owners next week but expects to have plenty of offers

David Moyes says he’s still no closer to knowing whether he’ll be the West Ham manager next season, but that he’ll have options should Sunday’s 3-1 win over Everton have been his last game.

If he is to depart east London, the Scotsman saw his side sign off in style against his former club, with a brace from Manuel Lanzini and one from Marko Arnautovic banishing any thought they’ve been too defensive in recent weeks.

With his contract expiring at midnight on Sunday, the former Manchester United manger sits in limbo, with both he and the board still to make a decision on his future.

Whatever that decision is, the 55-year-old has been happy with the improvement this season.

“I can’t [say if I’ll stay or go] because I’m no further forward,” Moyes said.

“We will meet and talk I think next week. We’ve not arranged a date, not arranged a time.

“Look, whatever way it comes around, we have – and I say we because I mean my staff, Alan Irvine, (Stuart) Pearcey and Billy (McKinlay), they are all with me in the same situation – played well, improved from the start of the season no end. We really have.”

Having taken West Ham from the bottom three upon his arrival to a 13th placed finish, few could deny Moyes the opportunity of a full season at London Stadium.

If the decision goes against him, and the club decide to go in another direction, Moyes says he’ll have plenty of options this summer, while also hinting that his ideas to move the club forward may be frowned upon in some quarters.

“I think that you’ve had plenty of time to see if you think what’s gone on is right.

“If you don’t then it’s not a problem because I’ll have options myself if I choose to do that. Look it’s not us challenging each other, far from it.

“I’ve had a really good relationship with the board since I’ve come here, I speak regularly with them.

“From that point of view, I would like to change things and maybe everybody is not happy with change.”
