A scrappy opening period saw few chances but it was the visitors who threatened more, Sergio Aguero missing a great opportunity when put through one on one. Before his injury you'd have backed the striker to score, but it's now five without a goal for him after he fired wide.
Loic Remy broke the deadlock after Branislav Ivanovic found Eden Hazard free on the left to volley a pass first time into the path of the French striker.
But City hit back almost immediately, Thibaut Courtois making a crucial error to mistime a cross that fell to the feet of Aguero. He shot but it needed the crucial touch of David SIlva to guide it past Ivanovic standing on the line.
Chances became even more scarce after the break and with Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas missing, Mourinho
opted to shut up shop and hang on for a 1-1 draw to maintain his five point lead at the top of the Premier League.
