Liverpool are set to appoint Arsenal doctor Gary O'Driscoll as their new head of medical services.

The Reds will lose the current head of their medical department, Andy Massey, when he departs to take up a similar role at Fifa in March.

But the Merseyside club have already sourced a replacement in O'Driscoll, who will end an 11-year association with the Gunners in order to join the European champions.

The former Ireland rugby and British and Irish Lions team doctor will be free to begin his new role once Arsenal have found a successor.

The north London club began advertising a vacancy as their head of sports medicine this week.
