Pulis: Peter Crouch will be fantastic

11 April 2012

Tony Pulis today backed Peter Crouch to shrug off the negativity surrounding his move to Stoke.

The England striker joined City for a club-record £10million on transfer deadline day but his wife, model Abbey Clancy, is reportedly unhappy about the prospect of leaving London.

City boss Pulis said: "Peter is a fantastic kid, very down to earth, and we are absolutely delighted to have him here.

"What Peter does in his private life is up to him and he should be able to do what he wants to do within reason. As long as he comes along, trains well, works hard and then does it on a Saturday, we will be delighted.

"Peter is looking for property up here - and I think his wife was up looking with him."

Stoke entertain Liverpool tomorrow and the Kenny Dalglish's visitors could have new signing Craig Bellamy on the bench after his return to Anfield.

Fulham face a Blackburn side reeling from their shocking start to the season.

Martin Jol goes into Sunday's clash with only a point from his first three games at Craven Cottage but Rovers have lost all three.

Boss Steve Kean said: "We now need to hit the ground running, we feel as if the season starts now. It is about starting against Fulham."

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck should return to training next week after damaging his hamstring in the 8-2 romp against Arsenal. Sir Alex Ferguson said: "The injury is not as bad as we thought and he should be training next week."

Samir Nasri is ready to play for Manchester City against Wigan tomorrow despite breaking a bone in his hand on France duty.

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent is on course to face Everton tomorrow after shrugging off the groin injury which forced him out of the England squad.
