Queens Park Rangers today agreed a £12million deal to sell defender Chris Samba back to Anzhi Makhachkala.

Samba is leaving Loftus Road just six months after he arrived in west London from the Russian club for £12.5m.

The defender is having a medical at Anzhi but has already agreed terms on a four-year contract worth £100,000-a-week.

Anzhi chairman Konstantin Remchukov said: “I can confirm that Samba has returned to us. If everything is in order, then he will once again be our player.”

Samba is the first of many high profile players Rangers are looking to offload before the transfer window closes on September 2.

QPR are under pressure to bring their wage bill under control following relegation from the Premier League in May.

Samba was one of the club’s biggest earners after joining in the January transfer window.

The 29-year-old was signed by QPR in the hope he could help save them from the drop but he struggled throughout most of his 10 appearances.

QPR will now look to move on other players, with striker Loic Remy, midfielder Esteban Granero and keeper Julio Cesar also available for transfer.
