QPR reward Helguson with a new deal

11 April 2012

Heidar Helguson today agreed a new one-year contract with Premier League newcomers Queens Park Rangers.

The Iceland international, 33, scored 13 goals during QPR's Championship-winning season and has been rewarded with a new deal.

Manager Neil Warnock was delighted to secure the former Watford striker for another season.

He said: "Heidar made a massive contribution last year and he'll play a big role again for us in the top flight next season.

"He was exceptional. It's not just his goals - it's his overall game.

"He's a big presence in the dressing room, a steadying influence in both training and on matchdays and he's a great professional. I'm delighted we've agreed a new deal with him."
