Ranking Crystal Palace's summer signings so far

After last season's incredible top half finish, Alan Pardew was tasked with injecting quality into the Crystal Palace ranks over the summer months.

Palace were relegation contenders in January, but Pardew steadied the ship as the Eagles pulled away from the bottom three to secure a third straight season in the top flight.

At this point the target was a sustained period in the Premier League, year-on-year survival, but no one could have envisaged the Palace boss luring Yohan Cabaye to Selhurst Park - and his arrival heightened expectation.

Pardew last week refused to comment on talk that Palace are now capable of mounting a charge for Europe, but drew parallels between the promise of his current side and the Newcastle squad he led to fifth in the Premier League in 2012.

"You have periods of form and how long we can keep that we'll have to wait and see, but I can compare this season to the team I had twice at Newcastle and this is a team that can be as good as that team," the Palace boss said.

Cabaye, who Pardew has branded his lieutenant, was joined through the door at Palace by Bakary Sako, Alex McCarthy, Patrick Bamford and Connor Wickham as the Eagles prioritised quality over quantity for the first time since their most recent promotion to the Premier League.

After successive summer windows spent bringing in more than 10 players, Pardew's movements marked a refreshing change of focus. But how have the new boys fared in the opening weeks of the new season? Standard Sport runs you through the earl-season impact of the summer recruits.
