Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy could be a target for Real Madrid or another European giant, according to his manager Claudio Ranieri.

The England international was playing at non-league side Fleetwood Town as recently as 2012, before securing a move to Leicester. He has subsequently adapted excellently to the challenges of higher divisions and leads the Premier League scoring charts with ten goals from ten games.

Saturday's winner against Crystal Palace means Vardy has scored in each of his last seven games. That places the 28-year-old a list of Premier League greats including Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer and Ian Wright for most consecutive games with a goal. And his manager has admitted that his form might attract big money interest.

Ranieri said: “It is important Jamie enjoys it here but I can also understand if he wants to go to find a great club but it would cost a lot.

“If Real Madrid or some big names want to buy him they have the money to buy him.”
