Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is optimistic his team can finish the season with some silverware.

Los Blancos claimed the Spanish Supercopa in January, but are two points behind Barcelona after 27 rounds of LaLiga and went down 2-1 at home to Manchester City in the first leg of the sides' Champions League last-16 tie in late February.

Speaking for the first time since his club's return to training after a two-month break caused by coronavirus, Zidane told Real Madrid TV: "We have to think positively.

"The players see that there are 11 games left (in LaLiga) and they want to finish strongly in order to win a trophy. It's in the DNA of the club."

Madrid started group training on Monday ahead of LaLiga's proposed return next month after government restrictions meant they were only allowed to work individually last week.

"I'm happy to be back training with my players after 60 days," Zidane said. "We're all happy to be back. We planned the physical preparation and they worked really well at home. They were in shape.

"This week has been very good for working, albeit in small groups. But we can work on a little more tactically. The team looks better this week."
