Zinedine Zidane wants more goals from Eden Hazard at Real Madrid

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane says he wants more goals from Eden Hazard.

Hazard has netted only once in eight games since his €130 million move from Chelsea in the summer, although his performances have improved since a slow start after he missed the beginning of the season with an injury.

"He has looked better to you and to us as well," the French coach told a journalist at his press conference on Friday when asked about the Belgian's progress.

"What he is lacking is to score more regularly. We are happy with his performances on the pitch.

"We are seeing him much better every day and it was normal that it would take a little time."

Zidane was also asked about Gareth Bale, having faced 11 questions on the Welsh winger in his last pre-match press conference, ahead of the 5-0 win over Leganes on Wednesday.

"The issue is sorted," he said of the player's trip to London earlier in the week. "He's here and on the pitch, little by little, we are helping him to return to the team. Nothing more."

And asked if he had to convince the 30-year-old to stay, he said: "There's nothing to do. I don't have to convince him. He's here, working. He has come back from his trip and he's training. He's not available yet."

Zidane also claimed Rodrygo's recent rise does not necessarily mean the 18-year-old Brazilian has moved ahead of compatriot Vinicius Junior in the pecking order at Real.

"I don't think it's like that," he said. "All the players who are here in the first-team squad know they have to be ready. It doesn't mean anything that Rodrygo is playing more than Vinicius lately.

"I am going to count on all the players. Some more than others, but they have to be ready."

Real Madrid are at home to Real Betis in La Liga on Saturday night.
