Harry Redknapp wants Robert Green to stay at Queens Park Rangers and be his goalkeeper in the Championship next season.

Rangers are looking to sell a number of players in the summer to help ease the financial blow of relegation but Green won’t be one of them.

The England international, who joined from West Ham on a free transfer last summer, has spent much of the campaign as back-up to Julio Cesar.

But Rangers are looking to cash in on Cesar, with Arsenal, AC Milan and Roma all interested, and get his £90,000-a-week contract off the payroll.

Green (above) has started the last three games for Rangers because Cesar has been injured and Redknapp hopes he will play a major part in the club’s promotion bid next term.

Redknapp said: “I don’t see Julio being here next year — he’s not a player for the Championship. He’s a player for a top Italian or Spanish, or Premier League team. Julio’s got the World Cup coming up and he’s the top Brazilian keeper. Rob’s come in and done great for me. He’s the one we’re looking to play next season.”

Meanwhile, Cameroon midfielder Stephane Mbia has dropped a big hint that both he and Loic Remy will leave the club in the summer.

He told French radio RMC: “I’m an international. To be selected, I must be at a club . . . In life, you cannot plan what will happen to us. Loic Remy is an international, like me. I do not know if he will stay.”
