Sebastien Bassong believes Roman Pavlyuchenko could be the man to fire Tottenham into next season's Champions League.

After spending most of the season on the bench or out of the squad altogether, Pavlyuchenko has burst into life after being given his chance in recent matches, scoring eight goals in his last six games in all competitions.

Pavlyuchenko's efforts have helped Spurs into fourth place although Harry Redknapp's side still have to travel to Eastlands and face fixtures against Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea efore the end of the campaign.

Asked whether Pavlyuchenko could prove the decisive man, Bassong said: "He could be the key. Why not?

"We have a very good squad, and this can help us go even further in the Premier League. I think we can reach the Champions League.

"It will be good for us if we manage it, because I think we deserve to be in it. We have been doing well since the start of the season, and if we continue to play that way, we can achieve what we want."
